HOLY TRINITY, GOD IS LOVE

HOLY TRINITY, GOD IS LOVE

To understand the trinity is to understand that God is love. This is the most central mystery of our faith, the mystery of God as Trinity.

There are many people who don’t believe in the Trinity and sad to say, many of which are still clueless of what the Trinity is all about. In order to understand the Trinity, we really have to understand who God is for each one of us, how he deals and relates with us.

The Trinity is the Christian faith that God is one in nature which is divine but is in three persons, Father Son and Holy Spirit. These persons or persona is not separate from each other but only distinct from one another as the Father is not the Son; the Son is not the Holt Spirit, etc. We know of this faith through Jesus Christ who is the perfect reveler.  He revelers to us the father as the one who sent and the redeemer, and the Spirit who is God’s continuing presence in the world, the love poured out by the Father and the Son.

So God reveals Himself through Jesus Christ. This disclosure of Himself is an extraordinary gift to each one of us. He could not revealed Himself. He does not need to reveal Himself. He could have left us in the darkness of ignorance. But instead, He bathed us with knowledge, with His light and guidance. Because God loves us so much. He is love. He gifts us with Himself. And our response proper to His goodness should be trust, love and wonder.

This revealing of Himself is an invitation of God for us to know Him better. He invites us to have relationship with Him.

But God as a mystery. But what kind of mystery? God as a mystery does not mean we cannot know anything about Himself. It simply means because God has revealed Himself, we know something of Himself but our knowledge cannot fathom all what or who God is. St Augustine would tell us that if we understood Him, he would not be God.

How do we know this mystery of God? Well, we just have to know to love, and live in love. That’s the only way! Sometimes, it’s very difficult to understand God because we made so little room for love in our hearts. So that if we love, we know God; if without love we are without God.

The Holy Trinity helps Trinity us to understand how God works and moves in our lives, how He relates with each one of us. It is seeking for what is good for the other. They say love makes us forget ourselves as we pour ourselves out for the other person. So whenever we love, we get a true glimpse of the very life God.

This is our invitation: may we live the life of God as Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit by our love for God and for our brother and sisters.
